Recently I had the opportunity to talk with some citizens of Perry County that had been affected by water run off, slides that had left large rocks in the road, and numerous other problems.
I have talked with people who are still waiting on clean water to drink!
I have talked with people that are actually setting up prayer groups concerning the corruption in this county!!
I talked with an individual who has had his life threatened several times only to have no action from the City Police, State Police, or even the London Federal Bureau Task force!!
The county is over flowing with drug dealing, drug deaths, and drug related crime. Yet due to a feud between political factions the Perry County Sheriffs office is underfunded, and has had large sums of money found to be missing! A drug task force where some are making hundreds of thousands of dollars!! Yet! still drugs are everywhere!
Both School systems have had numerous problems from a Principle that allows drinking, to funny tests scores.
Recently a man who was working in the Federal Courthouse in Perry County as door security( as I understand may have worn a badge at the time) convicted in a vote buying scheme. To make this even more outrageous he may still be working at this courthouse in a similar position.
Now with all these problems and more! The county judge has decided that he needs his own county patrol to guard the county park bathrooms!!
Now how is he paying for this in a county that can't even pay it's deputies ? Coal Severance funds!!
That's right with all the problems concerning roads, poverty and other problems he is forming a county toilet tactical unit!! The Poop Troop!!
In talking with people it is obvious to me that something is really wrong in this county, and with the officials that are supposed to work for the people as a whole, and not just an inner circle.
