Rogers on the Centennial of Ronald Reagan’s Birth

WASHINGTON,D.C. – U.S. Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers (R-KY), made the following statement today to mark the 100th birthday of President Ronald Reagan.

“Ronald Reagan’s vision for our country is as pertinent today as it was 30 years ago, when he and I first came to Washington. Reagan was optimistic about the great promise of economic reform, about finding a cure for our economic sickness. The 40th President reminded us of our cherished, hard-fought history and re-instilled the vision of America as a champion of liberty, a ‘shining city on a hill.’ As we celebrate his 100th birthday, I hope that we can embrace today’s economic and security challenges with that same spirit of optimism.”

Reagan’s Birthday is February 6, 1911. He died June 5, 2004, at the age of 93. President Reagan and Congressman Rogers were both elected to their respective federal offices in 1980.

Rogers has served Kentucky’s 5th Congressional District since 1981. With a focus on economic development, job creation, fighting illegal drugs and preserving Appalachia’s natural treasures, he has a reputation for listening to his constituents and fighting for the region he represents.
